To exercise your rights, contact us at privacy@chicconnection.com.

6. Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and access controls. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. International Data Transfers

DN Solutions Group, LLC is based in the United States. Your information may be processed and stored in the United States and other countries outside your country of residence, including countries that may not provide the same level of data protection as your home jurisdiction.

When we transfer personal data from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland to countries that have not received an adequacy decision from the European Commission or UK authorities, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs), the UK International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA) or Addendum, or other lawful transfer mechanisms required under applicable law.

You may request further information about the safeguards we use for international transfers by contacting privacy@chicconnection.com.

8. Children's Privacy

Chic Connection is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected information from a minor, we will delete it promptly.

9. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Our website may use cookies and similar technologies for essential functionality and analytics. You can control cookies through your browser settings. The mobile app may use local storage and device identifiers for authentication and performance.

10. Third-Party Links

The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Material changes will be communicated through the app or by email where appropriate. Where required by GDPR, we will obtain your consent or provide notice before material changes take effect.

12. Additional Information for European Users (GDPR)

This section applies to you if you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or Switzerland. In this section, "personal data" has the meaning given to it under the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 ("GDPR"), the UK GDPR, and applicable national implementing legislation.

12.1 Data Controller

The data controller responsible for your personal data is:

DN Solutions Group, LLC
Operator of Chic Connection
Email: privacy@chicconnection.com

12.2 Legal Bases for Processing

Under GDPR, we must have a lawful basis to process your personal data. We rely on the following bases depending on the activity:

  • Performance of a contract (Article 6(1)(b)): To create and manage your account, provide matching and messaging features, process subscriptions, and deliver the Service you request.
  • Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)): To maintain platform safety, prevent fraud and abuse, verify profiles, improve the Service, and enforce our Terms of Use — where our interests are not overridden by your rights and freedoms.
  • Consent (Article 6(1)(a)): For optional features such as precise location sharing, push notifications, marketing communications, and certain profile fields you choose to provide. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
  • Legal obligation (Article 6(1)(c)): Where we must comply with applicable laws, regulations, or lawful requests from authorities.

12.3 Special Category Data

Some information you may choose to include in your profile — such as ethnicity, religion, relationship preferences, or photos that reveal aspects of your identity — may be considered "special category" personal data under Article 9 GDPR.

We process this information only where you have given explicit consent by voluntarily providing it in your profile or preferences, or where another lawful basis under Article 9 applies. You are not required to provide special category data to use the Service. You may remove it from your profile at any time through the app settings.

12.4 Automated Decision-Making and Profiling

Chic Connection uses automated systems to suggest potential matches based on compatibility factors such as your stated preferences, interests, values, location, and profile information. This constitutes profiling under GDPR.

These recommendations are intended to help you discover relevant connections and are not solely automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects without human involvement. You are always in control of who you match with, message, or meet. If you have concerns about automated processing, contact us at privacy@chicconnection.com.

12.5 Your Rights Under GDPR

If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you have the following rights in relation to your personal data, subject to applicable conditions and exceptions:

  • Right of access (Article 15): Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to rectification (Article 16): Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
  • Right to erasure (Article 17): Request deletion of your personal data in certain circumstances ("right to be forgotten"). You may also delete your account in-app — see our Data Deletion Policy.
  • Right to restriction of processing (Article 18): Request that we limit how we use your data in certain situations.
  • Right to data portability (Article 20): Receive personal data you provided to us in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format, and request transmission to another controller where technically feasible.
  • Right to object (Article 21): Object to processing based on legitimate interests, including profiling, and object to direct marketing at any time.
  • Right to withdraw consent (Article 7(3)): Where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time through app settings or by contacting us.
  • Rights related to automated decision-making (Article 22): Not be subject to solely automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects, subject to applicable exceptions.

12.6 How to Exercise Your GDPR Rights

To submit a request, email privacy@chicconnection.com with the subject line "GDPR Request" and include:

  • Your full name and the email address associated with your Chic Connection account
  • The right you wish to exercise
  • Any details that help us locate your data and respond efficiently

We will respond within one month of receiving your request, as required by GDPR. This period may be extended by two further months where necessary due to complexity or volume; we will inform you if an extension applies.

We may need to verify your identity before processing your request to protect your account and personal data. There is no fee for exercising your rights unless your request is manifestly unfounded, excessive, or repetitive, in which case we may charge a reasonable fee or refuse the request as permitted by law.

12.7 Right to Lodge a Complaint

If you believe we have not handled your personal data in accordance with GDPR, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority in your country of residence, place of work, or where an alleged infringement occurred.

Examples of EU supervisory authorities include:

  • Ireland: Data Protection Commission — dataprotection.ie
  • France: CNIL — cnil.fr
  • Germany: Your local Landesdatenschutzbehörde
  • Netherlands: Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens — autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl
  • Spain: AEPD — aepd.es

For users in the United Kingdom, you may contact the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

We encourage you to contact us first at privacy@chicconnection.com so we can try to resolve your concern directly.

12.8 Data Retention (European Users)

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this policy, including:

  • Active accounts: For the duration of your account plus a reasonable period to allow reactivation or resolve disputes
  • Deleted accounts: Personal data is deleted or anonymized within 30 days of confirmed deletion, except where longer retention is required by law or for legitimate purposes (e.g. fraud prevention, legal claims)
  • Support and legal records: Retained as required by applicable law, typically up to 6 years where needed for compliance or litigation
  • Backup systems: Residual data may persist in encrypted backups for up to 90 days before automatic purging

12.9 Processors and Sub-Processors

We use third-party service providers ("processors") who process personal data on our behalf under written agreements requiring them to protect your data and process it only according to our instructions. These include providers for cloud hosting, authentication, payment processing, analytics, and communications. A list of processor categories is set out in Section 3 above. You may request further details about our processors by contacting privacy@chicconnection.com.

12.10 Marketing Communications

Where we send marketing communications to users in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, we do so based on your consent or, where permitted, our legitimate interests with appropriate opt-out rights. You may unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link in the message or by contacting us. Transactional and service-related communications (e.g. account alerts, security notices) are not marketing and may continue while you maintain an account.

13. Additional Information for California Residents (CCPA / CPRA)

This section applies to you if you are a California resident. It supplements the rest of this Privacy Policy and describes your rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act of 2020 (collectively, "CCPA/CPRA").

13.1 Notice at Collection

When you use the Service, we collect the categories of personal information described in Section 1 for the business and commercial purposes described in Sections 2 and 3. We retain personal information as described in Section 4. We do not sell your personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising as defined under CPRA.

13.2 Categories of Personal Information

In the preceding 12 months, we may have collected the following categories of personal information under CCPA/CPRA:

  • Identifiers (e.g., name, email address, phone number, account username, IP address, device identifiers)
  • Personal information categories listed in Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.80(e) (e.g., name, address, payment-related information processed by app stores)
  • Protected classification characteristics (e.g., age, gender, ethnicity, religion — if you choose to provide them in your profile)
  • Commercial information (e.g., subscription and purchase history)
  • Biometric information (e.g., selfies or identity verification materials, if submitted)
  • Internet or other electronic network activity (e.g., usage data, feature interactions, log data)
  • Geolocation data (approximate or precise location, with your permission)
  • Audio, electronic, visual, or similar information (e.g., photos, videos, and media you upload or send)
  • Inferences (e.g., preferences and compatibility factors used to suggest matches)
  • Sensitive personal information (e.g., precise geolocation, racial or ethnic origin, religious beliefs, contents of messages, sexual orientation or relationship preferences — if you provide or generate such information through the Service)

See Sections 1–3 for sources of collection, purposes of use, and categories of third parties with whom information may be shared.

13.3 Sale and Sharing of Personal Information

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising purposes as defined under CPRA. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes other than those permitted by CPRA without providing you the right to limit such use where required.

If our practices change in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide any opt-out or limit mechanisms required by law before doing so.

13.4 Your California Privacy Rights

Subject to certain exceptions, California residents have the following rights:

  • Right to know / access: Request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the categories of sources, the business or commercial purposes for collection, and the categories of third parties to whom we disclose it.
  • Right to delete: Request deletion of personal information we have collected from you, subject to legal exceptions. You may also delete your account in the app — see our Data Deletion Policy.
  • Right to correct: Request correction of inaccurate personal information we maintain about you.
  • Right to opt out of sale or sharing: Request that we not sell or share your personal information. As noted above, we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, but you may still submit a request.
  • Right to limit use of sensitive personal information: Request that we limit our use and disclosure of sensitive personal information to purposes authorized by CPRA, where applicable.
  • Right to non-discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your CCPA/CPRA rights, including by denying goods or services, charging different prices, or providing a different level of quality — except as permitted by law.

13.5 How to Exercise Your California Privacy Rights

To submit a request, email privacy@chicconnection.com with the subject line "California Privacy Request" and include:

  • Your full name and the email address associated with your Chic Connection account
  • The right you wish to exercise
  • Any details that help us locate your information and respond efficiently

You may also use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf. Authorized agents must provide proof of authorization and, where required, verification of your identity.

We will verify your identity before processing your request to protect your account and personal information. We will respond within 45 days of receiving a verifiable request, as required by CCPA/CPRA. This period may be extended by an additional 45 days when reasonably necessary; we will notify you if an extension applies.

There is no fee for exercising your rights unless your request is manifestly unfounded, excessive, or repetitive, in which case we may charge a reasonable fee or refuse the request as permitted by law.

13.6 Shine the Light (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.83)

California residents may request, once per calendar year, information about categories of personal information we disclosed to third parties for their direct marketing purposes during the preceding calendar year, if any. We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing purposes. To make a Shine the Light request, contact privacy@chicconnection.com with the subject line "Shine the Light Request."

13.7 Do Not Track

Some browsers transmit "Do Not Track" signals. Because there is no uniform industry standard for responding to such signals, we do not currently respond to Do Not Track browser signals. You can manage cookies through your browser settings as described in Section 9.
